Reading blogs in a blog reader saves you time and effort.

Because you no longer have to go to your Favorites, find our blog bookmark, and actually click the bookmark, your reduced efforts also reduce carbon emissions by one yoctogram.

It makes us feel good about ourselves.

It makes you feel good about yourself (I haven't figured out how that works yet).

For instance, if you only like to read our posts on Christianity and are bothered by everything else, just subscribe to the "Christianity" label. You'll have to right-click and copy the feed address into your reader application. I don't know if anyone will actually do this, but let me know if you do and if it doesn't work.
