Hyatt for Ants

That must be what they think our house is, because I tell you... I have NEVER seen so many ants in my life. It all started when they crept into our bathroom. Not a big deal, although I found it gross that they seemed to be after our dirty laundry basket. We bought some ant traps, sealed the point of entry, killed every ant we saw, moved the laundry basket up off the floor, and thought we were through with it.

Then they came in through our front window (opposite end of the house), going for a granola bar wrapper in the trash can. Then they came in through our back window. Then they tried to come in through the back of our bathroom mirror and attacked our bathroom sink. That was all spread out over last week.

In order to keep them from coming in, JunkMale has been caulking cracks in the molding, sealing windows, and resealing doors. This obviously made the ants angry, and now they are fighting back.

Today they decided they would launch a triple attack. We have significant numbers of ants coming in in no less than three locations (again through our front window, another cracked molding spot, and one of the unsealed windows). One place they have not yet tried to attack is our kitchen. This makes me very, very nervous.

One point of interest: the ants absolutely LOVE the ant traps. In fact, they are specifically coming in the front of our house to eat the bait in the trap we set there last week. I don't know whether to be glad that the traps work, or frustrated that they work well enough to attract ants from the outdoors into our house.

I'm sure you've googled "ant invasion" and "get rid of ants".

Try tracing the route of the ants back to the entry point, and then spray that point with a spray insecticide (ant / roach killer etc). Of course you should also empty the trash frequently and otherwise avoid leaving temptations around for the ants.

Calling an exterminator is also an option. (full perimeter defense)

I just dealt with this yesterday. I googled "homemade ant repellant" and found that mixing water, tobasco, peppermint oil and soap in a spray bottle worked for me. I sprayed it on the ants and where I thought they were coming from.
