We're Back from Grandma's
At this point, we must admit to a bit of deception. We were at grandma's from Thursday until yesterday. But thanks to Blogger's new (and quite overdue) feature of scheduling future posts, we were able to avoid a posting drought while we were gone.
We visited Harmony's dad's mom in coastal North Carolina. When we visit mom's mom, there is usually some work to do, since she is older and a bit less able, with more than 10 times the property. But visiting dad's mom had us mostly sitting around and chilling out the whole time, while being overfed. And that is what happened this time as well. We have stated in the past that we eat healthy so that we can eat at grandmothers' houses and at church potlucks. It suffices to say that we will be eating very healthy for the rest of the year.
Allow me to take a slight aside and say that I am very bad at withstanding sweet junk food temptation. This is why we don't ever buy the things that are sometimes available at grandmothers' houses. While on our trip, I even had Little Debbie snack cakes that I normally never would even think about having. I had many slices of delectable homemade chocolate frosted pound cake, even though I knew it had half a cup of Crisco in it (at least the frosting was butter creme, and homemade too). Not wanting to hurt feelings, Harmony gives me stern looks that say "eat it or die" whenever a grandmother offers me dessert. Not wanting to die quite yet, I comply. I am much better at resisting temptation at Harmony's parents' house, for whatever reason.
We brought Luna with us, which made the trip considerably more interesting. She is a very good traveler and usually sleeps the entire time spent in the car. Grandma has two dogs; an 8 (?) year old poodle/pomeranian mutt named Rusty who is morbidly obese, and a 2 year old full Pomeranian named Max. Max is much more playful than Rusty, who happens to be a grouch. Luna and Max had lots of fun being playmates during the course of our visit. The video below illustrates the fun they had together. The first few moments, however, are unrelated short clips of Luna playing with a dead lizard at my parents' house in March.
Welcome back. It looks like you all had a good time. Especially Luna! LOL! How did the garden fare while you were gone?
I couldn't help but smile watching those two dogs racing around the yard! They look like they're having such a blast! Perhaps Luna needs a full-time puppy playmate? ;-)
Luna's short haircut is cute, btw.
