Sigh and Shaking of Head
I just thought I should let you know that apparently some Episcopal priest has declared herself both a Muslim and a Christian.
Here's something I found perplexing:
Redding's situation is highly unusual. Officials at the national Episcopal Church headquarters said they are not aware of any other instance in which a priest has also been a believer in another faith. They said it's up to the local bishop to decide whether such a priest could continue in that role.
If a church is even going to have a central authority...shouldn't they take a stand for things that are absolutely central to church doctrine? (Islam traditionally rejects the divinity of Christ) I sure hope that the divinity of Christ is still central to Episcopal doctrine.
Now, my mom never actually said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all." I think I will start following that aphorism at this point of the post, before I say something I regret.
Well, this isn't exactly the first time that the Episcopal church has had issues with its leadership declaring unbiblical actions and beliefs to be okay.
It'll be interesting to see how this situation plays out.
Ummm, I'm just wondering how she reconciles liberalism and feminism with being a "devout Muslim". Does she cover her hair and wear an abaya? Does she let her husband beat her? (does she have a husband?)
