No Apologies For Long Comments

When people leave long comments (here or elsewhere), they sometimes apologize for the length of their response.

I am here to tell you that you do not need to do such a silly thing on this blog. We don't care how long your comment is, unless it's a troll comment or otherwise inappropriate. We like getting comments, and we like getting long ones just as much as any other length (maybe even more than any other length), so you have our full approval to blab away. In fact, you are hereby ordered NOT to apologize if you are leaving an appropriate long comment.

Has anyone ever been offended by an appropriate and long comment on one's blog? I just wonder why some people apologize when they leave long comments...maybe they themselves don't like long comments on their own blog?

Non, I don't mind long comments either. But I think of myself as tiresomely longwinded and repetitive sometimes- it takes me forever to get to the point and other people can say in two sentences what it takes me to say in ten. Or fifty.

And besides, everybody else apologizes for long comments...=)

Long comments can give you more time in which to get to know something about the person posting. I happen to like that.

I think long comments are generally great!! However, I do think sometimes (rude) people leave long comments that are only for the point of getting THEIR point across, advertizing their own blog or some product they sell, etc... although that type of person probably wouldn't apologize for hijacking the comments thread. ;)

So ANYWAY, I think when someone does apologize for a long comment, they want to make sure they're not over-stepping their boundaries in YOUR blog, you know? :)

But, I guess after this post of yours, no one will worry about hijacking your blog. ;)
