The Point of Presidential Candidates' Signs?

I have seen more of these sorts of signs in our area in the past couple of weeks.

What is the point of putting up these signs after primary elections? Anyone who is the slightest bit deserving of suffrage is already going to know who these people are. And people who have never heard of McCain or Our Great Leader Comrade Obama (hope be upon him) do not deserve a vote. Have you been spurred on to vote for president merely because you see signs with names on them?

I understand why people would put them up for local elections. Such elections do not get as much press coverage, and these signs would be useful for fueling Google searches in order to raise awareness of candidates.

I JUST said this yesterday on our way to church. And then last night on tv every commercial. EVERY COMMERCIAL was an Obama or McCain commercial. Really?

I've wondered the same thing. Around here those signs serve one purpose. They give the Smockity children opportunity to "BOOOOO!" or "YEA!!!!!!" as we drive by.

Actually, I do think they serve a purpose. One, if someone is waffling, they might think, "Well, so-and-so is voting for Candidate X, so maybe I will, too." Not the best way to determine one's vote, but I'm sure it probably happens.

Also, it keeps the election visible and can act as a reminder to vote. Granted, based on the number of ads and phone calls coming into my home lately, there's no way anyone could NOT remember the election is today!

That's funny (but true)..."comrad Obama" :-P I tell ya, I am normally a pretty positive person when it comes to business, the economy, investing, etc, but with Obama at the helm of our government, I am really feeling like things are going to get at least 30% more difficult economically :-(
